Droupadi Murmu is an Indian politician and a member of the BJP. She served as the 9th Governor of Jharkhand between 2015 and 2021. Droupadi Murmu is the 15th President of India, she is elected as India’s President on 21st July 2022.
She is the first person from the tribal section and the second lady to occupy the highest constitutional spot in the country after independence.
Droupadi Murmu won over Yashwant Sinha by 53% votes at the end of the third round.
Murmu won by a huge margin against Yashwant after receiving over 64% of valid votes in a day-long counting of ballots of MPs and MLAs.
After the conclusion of the counting process which lasts for more than 10 hours, returning officer P C Mody announced Droupadi Murmu as the victor and said she got 6,76,803 votes against Sinha’s 3,80,177 votes.
